Happy 13th Anniversary
13 Years ago today (I was sure it was 14 and next week) a beautifully stunning lady changed my life that day when she said “I do”. Luckily she was right, she did know the way to the address where @karmadillo was waiting to marry me! As I drove through the door, it dawned on me that I should have opened it first, but, god damn it, I was nervous and excited. If I could get this done my Care Plan was sorted for the foreseeable future. Not taking any chances, I wore a red Dickie Bow and Braces, oh yeah, I hooked this fish, no way was it getting away.
How did we meet I hear you not ask? Well I will tell you. 1996 we spoke on a Compuserve chat room, not a suicide one or anything kinky, just a chat room. (thinking back she may have been grooming me) Anyway, at the time I was on a path of self destruction. You see, when you buy a tin of disability what it does not say on the label is that if you are unfortunate enough to have gone to a “special” school, then watching friends die is as common as s*it on new shoes. So I was struggling with the death of my best friend and my future wife was in a similar situation – her ex was alive and refused to die! (Was that wrong?)
1997 Feb, we spoke on-line and agreed to meet in person for the first time. The venue was at a pub in Birmingham which was 5 minutes away for me. This was handy as being a Raspberry means the only time I left the house was to cash my benefits at the Post Office. Being a “Normal” she was used to going out of the house and having a life, so it was only fair she drove (and when I say “drove” I mean a car not a wheelchair, she is a normal you see) the 2 hours from where she lived in Huddersfield. I apologised for turning up late, she was very forgiving!
1997 Sept, we were living with each other and we were flying to New York to get married (which I could not wait for as the no sex before marriage rule was killing me;-)! So we got married! Sadly, Elvis did not perform the ceremony as Elvis was too fecking expensive, the crook.
As I sat waiting for her to enter the room, I could not keep my hands off my knob. (wheelchair knob) Like I said I was nervous. Then she wobbled in, (the wobble was due to having a sniff of wine to calm her, she is a normal remember) sat next to me and we got married.
Since then we have had three amazing kids that we dislike at times. Now and again they are OK but they do cost more than a visit from the Pope. I do jest, we love them deeply and could not be without them.
My wife is amazing. I know what you’re thinking and yes, you are right, I am amazing too. But my wife really is and I’ll tell you why. Being a Raspberry it is hard to find a person that chooses to share their life with you and live with the frustrations and limitations that come with that. Unless you happen to be rich or hung like a horse, which I am not, oh, damn it. Moving on, she gave up a lot to be with me and continuously does so on a daily basis. Like many Carers she is insulted and taken for granted by the Government and is penalised for loving me. She has watched my disability gradually getting worse, regardless, she is still with me and has only had a handful of affairs!;-)
I love you, my beautiful beautiful wife xx
You made my cry – you bugger!
Lovely , just lovely.
Brilliantly said.
You do have the voice of an angel! Happy anniversary, Sas and Marty xxxxx
Soppy song made Grumpy Pete feel strange. Emotions are weird.
