A Sitting Down Stand

You’ve never liked me,
I’ve always known it to be true,
But why don’t you like me?
What wrongs did I do?

Am I solely to blame?
Is it all my own fault?
When I was a child?
And now as an adult?

Grant me the reasons?
Even with a clue,
It simply can’t be,
That I’m different to you?

I’ve failed your expectations,
Your ideals I’ve not met,
Am I to be sorry?
Should I live with regret?

Your approval I wanted,
You liking me was a need,
Instead you criticised and knocked
Each time my heart would bleed,

Many years have now passed,
And even now I consciously try,
Left with the same outcome,
An aching pain and a hidden cry,

Regardless of time,
I’ll always give a damn,
But from this day forward,
I am who I am,

Experience has shown,
There‘s no positive gain,
Travelling the journey of life,
Consumed with pain,

A stern warning to all,
Even for those I adore,
I’ve deserved better,
And I won’t take any more,

Accept me for who I am,
Consider me as I do you,
This is not an option,
It’s do or we are through,

Regardless who you are,
Conclusion is simply this,
A polite fuck you to those,
Who generally take the piss.
